The NCC, which has a 39-year history of producing some of the best talent in Australian netball will be held in Victoria this year, running from April 9-14.

19/U Preview

The WA 19/U team are gunning for gold this year, after going home with a silver medal in 2023. The team have retained six of their silver medallists from last year and have included four bronze medallists from the 2023 17/U team. This group are determined to go one further in 2024.

Keep an eye out for West Coast Fever Training Partner Georgie Cleaver, she returns to the side after winning gold with Australia in the 2023 Commonwealth Youth Games.

Scarlet Jauncey has been working incredibly hard and has gained training experience in the Fever environment as an invitee, her ability to win the ball will make her a leader in defence.

Maya Kenny is returning to the side stronger than ever, a centre court player who can run all day, Kenny will be using her skills to connect the team throughout the mid-court.

The team’s first match up of the tournament against Queensland will be an exciting challenge, facing an opposition made of many gold medallists from last year’s Queensland 17/U team. Victory against Queenslanders will be crucial in starting WA’s gold medal campaign strong.

HEAD COACH: Karly Guadagnin
LEADERSHIP GROUP: Scarlet Jauncey (Captain), Georgie Cleaver (Vice Captain), Aitaua Enari (Emerging leader).
ASSISTANT COACH: Melanie Rainey
SQUAD OF 12
Goalers: Aitaua Enari, Aisha Morcombe, Georgie Cleaver, Chloe Ramsay

17/U Preview

The only way to describe the 17/U 2023 NNC campaign is gut wrenching. The squad took home the Bronze Medal after going down to Queensland in double overtime, just missing out on their chance to fight for gold.

This year’s team includes five returning players, and seven athletes who will make their debut.

2023 Captain Clara Wigley makes her return after winning gold representing Australia at the 2023 Commonwealth Youth Games.

At just 15 years old Halle Richard is a versatile and tall shooter who returns to the squad with confidence to face opponents on the national stage.

Kate Cunningham is also making her return to the team after a strong preseason on and off the court, she possesses crucial defensive skills for the squad.

The 17/U team will have a keen focus on round 3 against Victoria, a well-structured team, especially in front of their home crowd. The Victorian team will no doubt be looking for redemption for the bronze medal game at the 2023 championships, making the match up challenging for WA.
