Netball WA is the peak body for Netball in Western Australia and as a registered member, your membership provides you with a range of benefits to assist you both on and off the court.

Through the generous support of the State Government and the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries (DLGSC), Netball WA has invested in a dedicated team of Membership, Development and Officials Coordinators across the State, who are on the ground and available to assist Associations to deliver Netball competitions and programs.

In conjunction with Netball Australia, Netball WA develops governance practices that ensure the best leadership for the affiliated Member Associations. Policies, guidelines, standards, and codes of conduct are reviewed and updated regularly to ensure all members, volunteers and spectators are protected, allowing a quality experience for all. 

As a member of Netball WA, you benefit from the work we undertake to play, grow and inspire our sport right across the State which provides peace of mind and confidence that your Association and /or Club is approved by Netball WA, the competition you play in is sanctioned and gives you access to a range of benefits, including advice from experts.

Your membership helps us support the network of Associations and Clubs across WA and contributes to the development and support of programs, products and plans to help grassroots netball grow and thrive. 

We work closely with communities to:
  • Deliver the resources they need to enable success and growth;
  • Develop coaches, officials, umpires and volunteers every year to enhance their skills and knowledge; and
  • Make playing netball possible for more than 50,000 people throughout the State. Your membership of Netball WA also supports us in developing the capacity and capability of our volunteers to help meet the ever-increasing needs of our community including:
  • Supporting Associations and Clubs to use Netball Australia’s PlayHQ platform
  • Face-to-face and live webinar training on a wide range of topics, including: o Coach education o Umpire education o Child Safeguarding and Working with Children o Governance training o Woolworths NetSetGO o Peer Network for Coaches and Umpires – specialised topics o Upskilling of Association Umpire and Development Officers
  • Supporting individuals in accessing online learning in their chosen field

  • As the peak body for Netball in the State, Netball WA takes the lead role in advocating for various forms of support relating to funding, lobbying, facilities, grants and major projects with State, Federal and Local Governments.
    
    As a Member of Netball WA, we can support your Association or Club with your key projects and initiatives including Facilities Development through the Community Sporting and Recreation Facilities Fund (CSRFF).

Your membership fees support our ability to promote and highlight those stories, generating further interest and investment from sponsors and funders in our sport. We support our advocacy program by raising awareness of the great work people in Netball do across all media including digital, radio, television, and print platforms as well as social media to spread to positive messages associated with our sport.
  • Netball WA has committed to implementing the 10 National Principles of Child Safe Organisations and is dedicated to ensuring our sporting environments are safe, supportive, and friendly for children.  We are devoted to working with all involved in Netball so that children can enjoy the sport and feel safe, valued and encouraged to reach their full potential. 
    
    Child Safety must be embedded in every Association and Club’s culture, reflected in their policies and procedures and understood and practised at all levels of Netball. This includes Netball WA and the Gold Netball Centre where children come to learn, train, play, and excel.
    Netball WA takes our responsibility seriously to provide an environment that is caring, nurturing and safe. 
    

    Your membership fees contribute to the Netball Australia National Insurance Program providing protection for members when involved in activities that are sanctioned by Netball Australia and Netball WA, ranging from personal accident, public liability, management liability, travel insurance, cyber insurance and property insurance.

    Netball WA is proud to provide our Netball Associations and Clubs, schools, facility investors and all levels of government with a suite of resources to help inform and better plan for the growth and development of our sport. 
    
    Your member support means we can look forward to continuing our partnerships with all these stakeholders so that together we can continue to deliver high quality netball venues and facilities for our valued and ever-growing netball community.
    
    Netball WA has been working with all levels of government and community stakeholders to ensure new netball developments meet projected growth, compliance and standards. 
    We lobby and advocate for safe and compliant venues for our members and the local communities in which they live.
    
    Recently, Netball WA released its Strategic Facilities Plan, which will guide investment in new and redeveloped facilities for the next decade.
    
    Each year, Member Associations can apply for funding through Netball WA for master planning / feasibility studies in conjunction with Local Governments or State Government agencies to gain support for medium to major projects. 

    As part of Netball WA’s commitment to supporting grassroots Community Netball and growing Netball in Western Australia, Netball WA and Major Partner Hyundai, run the Hyundai Community Raffle which provides a great opportunity for Associations and Clubs to raise vital funds for their organisation. 
    
    From 2024, 100 per cent of the proceeds from the raffle are returned to Associations and Clubs for them to put back into development and member support.
    
    Commercial sponsors who partner with Netball WA help us become a more reliable and trusted partner to invest in. This means we have more funds available to spend on grassroots netball. 

    Your membership helps us to promote Netball and raise awareness of the many other ways people in our communities can be involved, enabling Netball WA to develop and deliver programs such as:
    
  • Woolworths NetSetGO: A fun and safe introduction to Netball for 5-10 year olds. This nationally licensed program is available only to registered members of Netball WA.
  • Inclusive Netball: Catering for people of all ages, genders, abilities and backgrounds including No Limits; Aboriginal; Boys; Mixed and Multicultural programs.
  • Walking Netball: A modified version of Netball at a walking pace designed for adults of any age.
  • Fast5: A fun, social and flexible way to play Netball.
  • For many people, their first experience of Netball is at school. By partnering with School Sport WA, Associated Catholic Colleges, Independent Girls’ Schools’ Association and SEDA WA, Netball WA can support schools to deliver netball. 
    
    Your membership also allows Netball WA, with the addition of the nationally funded Sporting Schools Program, to train and support community coaches to provide an amazing first Netball experience in schools through organised clinics and carnivals. 
    
    This allows us the opportunity to provide more information to those participants who do not already belong to an Association or Club on becoming a member of Netball WA and participating in competitions and programs at community level, further strengthening Netball’s broad participant base.

    Your membership contributes towards the Netball WA Community and Pathway Competitions, where members across a range of ages and abilities can compete each year.
    
    Even if members do not regularly partake in these competitions, they are notable events in developing the Netball landscape and are important for the future health and growth of the sport. They also attract interstate and international teams, who pay a fee for service to attend, further supporting the Netball pathway.
    
    Netball WA Talent Identification Coaches attend these competitions to identify the players, officials and coaches of our future, who then have the opportunity to progress through underpinning programs and into the elite pathway. 

    Netball WA invests in Talent Development to ensure the next generation of netballers have the greatest opportunity to succeed and reach their potential. 
    
    Our Underpinning Development Programs provide opportunities to nurture players, coaches and officials as well as acting as a stepping-stone for our State’s top talent from Underage Futures to West Coast Fever.
    
    We have athletes competing at all levels on the national stage from National Underage Championships to Suncorp Super Netball. Our vast membership supports athletes across WA who are selected in State programs, ensuring that the best talent can progress through the system regardless of where they live in our State.
    
    These athletes then become role models and attract future participants to grow our sport.

    West Coast Fever are Netball WA’s elite team competing in the Suncorp Super Netball League. 
    
    Your membership provides access to special ticket purchase opportunities and other benefits on game days. Our Fever athletes increase our sport’s profile, attracting young girls and boys to join and play our sport as well as enticing more sponsors and partners to align with Netball.
    
    West Coast Fever athletes also visit some of Netball WA’s Associations throughout each season to chat with young players and are excellent role models in the broader sporting community and beyond.

    Netball WA through the generous bequests of former Life Members is able to provide annual scholarships to Coaches, Umpires and Managers for a variety of development opportunities. Members can access these scholarships via the Netball WA website.

    Netball WA members have access to major/critical incident response services through Netball WA’s partnership with SportsCARE a Chaplaincy support program through YouthCARE. In the event of a major or critical incident the Member Association or Club only need to reach out to Netball WA who will manage the introduction to the service. SportsCARE’s, Sports Chaplains can provide the following incident response:
    
  • onsite or online pastoral care incident response services
  • resources to equip members in difficult situations
  • assistance with referrals to professionals as required
  • follow up and continued support for the members impacted by the incident The partnership with SportsCARE is another benefit Netball WA provide for its members.
