To say the last week has been massive is probably an understatement. If you have seen even a snippet of netball media, you would likely be aware of the events which unfolded at a national level with Netball Australia and the Diamonds.
As a result of these issues, which were well and truly outside our control, Netball WA and West Coast Fever lost our partnership with Roy Hill. While we are disappointed to lose the partnership, we respect the decision and the hand we have been dealt.
What has been overwhelming has been the support of the WA community. From our Members, to Corporate Partners, the State Government and the Netball WA community, the number of people and businesses who have reached out to offer their support has been amazing and made a difficult time that little bit easier.
The Club and Netball in Western Australia has a long association with the mining sector and is extremely grateful for its ongoing support. The mining sector and its related businesses are essential to the livelihoods of many West Australians, including netball families. We really want to stress that our players do understand and recognise the value and necessity of commercial funding.
Netball WA would like to reassure everyone involved in netball from the grassroots to the elite level, we are working extremely hard to replace this partnership. Our key focus at the moment is finding new partners to ensure we limit any impacts on our business.
Please be rest assured that Netball WA will continue to deliver community netball, we will continue to develop talent and we will continue to provide West Coast Fever with everything the club needs to succeed in 2023 and beyond.
Let's not forget, we won the premiership in July. We are the reigning premiers and we believe that is attractive to potential partners, along with the sheer number of people involved with our sport.
Finally, Netball WA is committed to growing community netball and delivering programs to encourage more people to participate in our great sport. Nothing will break that commitment.
