The most significant highlights of the program are the new friendships formed and the growth in confidence across the Academy, which also provides preparation to any athletes who could potentially be identified to attend 17/U Futures Trials.
Trials for the Academy were held in August with 58 players registered to be a part of the program. 20 players were selected and took up the opportunity to be coached by specialist coaches over six sessions, including a Hub Day in the September holidays.
The Hub Day was an opportunity to put skills into practice, and with the support of the Fever in Time Umpiring Squad and representative players from the Cook Islands team, the players were able to showcase their newly developed skills in match play.
The Academy had players from associations across the metropolitan area as well as some from regional areas including: Merredin, Katanning, Mandurah and Serpentine Jarrahdale.
The Aboriginal Development Academy is proudly supported by Netball WA’s Major Partner Fortescue.
