Netball WA has partnered with Western Australia’s number one recycling program, Containers for Change to implement a number of recycling initiatives to encourage the recycling of 10¢ containers across Netball WA venues and to raise important funds for future programs.
As part of the partnership, Containers for Change bins will be present at the Fuel To Go & Play Association Championships and the Perth NAIDOC Carnival for 2023, with all funding raised from the 10¢ containers collected going back into supporting Netball WA initiatives. Containers for Change bins will also be positioned inside and outside the Gold Netball Centre in Jolimont from May onwards.
Netball WA Chief Executive Officer Simone Hansen said the support of Containers for Change delivers benefits for the environment and Netball in Western Australia.
“Netball WA is extremely excited to have the support of a highly respected and recognised WA organisation like Containers for Change which will open new fundraising avenues, while helping protect WA’s natural environment,” Ms Hansen said.
“Containers for Change is an organisation with strong ties to supporting the community and Netball WA is very excited to work with them to raise important funds for future Netball WA initiatives.
“We encourage our players, coaches, officials and supporters to keep an eye out for the Containers for Change bins at upcoming championships as well as at clubs and associations.
“By donating their 10¢ containers using the correct bins provided, everyone involved in Netball can play an important role in fundraising initiatives to help us continue to fund our programs to ensure Netball grows and thrives across the State.”
WA Return, Recycle and Renew Chief Executive Officer Tim Cusack said he was very excited to partner with Netball WA and extend Containers for Change’s footprint into a new public domain.
“We are seeing lots of 10¢ containers going straight to landfill from the public using general waste bins when they’re out and about, whether it's on a shopping trip or watching local netball,” Mr Cusack said.
“Our aim is to provide a recycling option at some of Netball WA’s most frequented locations to save more 10¢ containers from heading straight to landfill.
“Netball WA is such an important organisation for fostering community and helping developing netball talent thrive, so we are very happy that all proceeds from these bins will go back into funding Netball WA programs for many years to come.”
