Perth & Peel Region
Following Premier Mark McGowan’s announcement yesterday afternoon regarding Perth and Peel Region’s transition out of lockdown, the following restrictions will apply to community sport in these regions from 12:01am, Saturday 3 July to 12:01am, Tuesday 6 July:
- Outdoor community sport is permitted without spectators. The 4sqm rule will apply. Therefore, outdoor training, competition and holiday clinics may resume for Associations.
- Only those officiating, participating or coaching can attend. Adults can attend if supervising a child under 16 years old, provided that there are no more persons than reasonably necessary, and it is approved by the host Association.
- GIG WANL Clubs wanting to train across the next 3-days, must do so outdoors.
- Indoor community sport is not permitted and therefore the Gold Netball Centre will remain closed until further notice.
- Masks are mandatory for indoor public spaces, outdoors and on public transport.
- However, masks may be removed for outdoor vigorous exercise such as netball by players and umpires only when participating in a match or training.
- A 20 person limit and 4 sqm rule will apply for Association venues using their Clubhouse.
For those Associations, in the Perth and Peel Regions who have already made the decision to cancel or postpone their competitions across the next three days, Netball WA will continue to work with them to ensure that they can complete fixtures within the second half of the season.
Travel Outside Perth & Peel Regions
For people who have been in the Perth/Peel regions and have returned home (outside of the Perth/Peel regions), the below circumstances will now apply to community sport.
A person who left Perth/Peel regions after 12:00pm (noon) on Sunday 27 June but before 12:01am Tuesday 29 June, must wear a mask and present for testing if they develop symptoms. They must follow the same restrictions that were in place for Perth/Peel regions before the lock down Outbreak Restrictions (Level 1) Directions. Therefore, masks may be removed if participating in vigorous exercise (such as participating in or officiating netball in both indoor and outdoor venues).
A person who left the Perth/Peel regions after 12.01am Tuesday 29 June, must comply with all Post Lockdown Interim Restrictions which come into effect as of 12.01am, Saturday 3 July 2021. People traveling out of the Perth/Peel region may play, officiate and coach outdoors community sport and they must wear a mask except when doing vigorous exercise (such as participating in or officiating netball). They will also need to observe the rule of not attending hospitality venues except for take away.
For further details, please see refer to the Outbreak Restrictions (Post Lockdown Interim Restrictions) Directions.
People who are identified as close or casual contacts of confirmed cases cannot travel outside Perth or Peel.
Travel restrictions to remote Aboriginal communities also remain in place.
Netball WA will provide additional information relating to the easing of restrictions from Tuesday 6 July within the next few days.
If you have attended a known exposure site or are feeling unwell, please isolate and get tested as soon as possible at a COVID Clinic
The netball community is urged to remain informed via the State Government’s COVID 19 Information and Advice website.
Everyone’s continued diligence to follow the directives and get tested if unwell so that we can keep our community safe is greatly appreciated. Netball WA will provide further information as soon as it comes to hand.
