Dear WA Netball community,
I regret to inform you that following updated health advice received by Netball WA this evening, all indoor netball training, games and events are being cancelled in the Perth and Peel regions until further notice.
This updated advice requires players and umpires to wear masks indoors whilst training or playing, which is not feasible for netball.
At all times we have been acting on the guidance provided in the best interests of the netball community and we apologise for any inconvenience.
While it is disappointing that we must take this step to cancel indoor netball, the safety and wellbeing of all participants is our absolute priority, and we will continue to be guided by the advice that we receive from the State Government.
Outdoor netball games may still resume from 12.01am, Saturday 1 May under the following conditions:
- Masks will still be required at outdoor netball venues where it isn’t possible to physically distance.
- Masks are not required outdoors for players or umpires, whilst training or playing.
- Coaches must follow mask-wearing requirements but may remove their mask when speaking with players.
- Mask-wearing exemptions will continue to apply for children 12 years of age and under and for specific medical reasons.
We will continue to advocate for the return of indoor netball as soon as possible.
Thank you for your understanding.
Sincerely,
Simone Hansen
Chief Executive Officer
