Netball WA wishes to congratulate all the 2024 Scholarship holders. Each year, Netball WA offers such scholarships to deserving members of the netball community to help further their aspirations in their relevant field.
Bette Allison Coach Scholarship
Riley Culnane- Souwest Jets
Currently the Apprentice Coach with Souwest Jets Open team, Riley is an ex-state player with an enthusiasm for passing on what she has learned during her state league playing days. The scholarship will assist with her accreditation goals and future GIG WANL coaching aspirations.
Kim Garay- Western Roar
Kim is the Apprentice Coach with Western Roar Mens and Pride Boys. She has a self-motivation to keep developing as a coach and continuing to work through the coach pathway. Kim also enjoys giving back to grassroot netball at association level.
Jessica Johnson- Tom Price Netball Association
Jessica is currently an active coach and the president at Tom Price Netball Association in the Pilbara Region. She is passionate about engaging and retaining girls and boys in our sport and supporting coaches who are new to the pathway. The scholarship will assist Jessica to travel to Perth for the Advanced Coach Course.
Sam McPherson- Peel Lightning and Rockingham Districts Netball Association
Sam is currently the head coach of Peel Lightning Bolts (WANL Futures) as well as an active coach at RDNA. She is committed to the development of players and coaches as well as her own continual development. The scholarship shall assist Sam pursue her goal of achieving the Advanced Coach Accreditation.
Lauren Reid- Kojonup Netball Association
As well as coaching at her association, Lauren is the NetSetGO!, senior and mixed coordinator for her association. As a coach in the Great Southern, the scholarship shall assist Lauren to travel to coach workshops and mentoring opportunities to work towards the Intermediate Coach Accreditation in the future. She would like to develop her coaching skills and gain more knowledge to keep growing netball at her association.
Jessica Rennick- Leschenault Netball Association
Jessica is a coach who wants to grow her skill set to ensure she always creates quality coaching sessions for the LNA No Limits Team. As well as working through the coach pathway, she wants to ensure that her team can keep competing at the Fuel to Go and Play Association Championships and is keen to create opportunities for more game play within the South West Region for players with a disability.
Ellie Sheridan- Narrogin and Districts Netball Association
Ellie holds several coaching positions at her Great Southern association. She has a passion for teaching younger players the fundamentals of netball and wants to show them how much enjoyment they can continue to get from the sport as players or officials. The scholarship shall assist Ellie to attend upskilling opportunities and work towards the Intermediate Coach Accreditation in the future.
Brooke Tkachenko- West Coast Warriors and Wanneroo Districts Netball Association
Brooke is an Apprentice Coach at West Coast Warriors and coaches at her association. She is working towards the Advanced Coach Accreditation. Brooke is a dedicated coach who is always willing to help others, as well as upskill herself. As a teacher, she is also keen to bring a netball program to her school and spread her enthusiasm for the sport.
Fay Bevan Umpire Scholarship
Jessica Joldescu- Narrogin and Districts Netball Association
Jessica would like to keep developing her umpiring skills by officiating at Netball WA competitions and programs and ultimately secure the B Badge Accreditation. Her future goals also involve becoming a tester and coach to ensure she is giving back to her netball community and supporting her fellow association umpires. The scholarship shall assist Jessica to travel Perth for higher level games and umpire coaching.
Alison Kenworthy- South Midlands Netball Association
After a strong performance in the 2023 Fever in Time Program, Alison has recently been selected in the State Umpire Performance Program and is currently umpiring GIG WANL. She relishes every opportunity to expand her knowledge of the game and wants to continue to learn from Netball WA umpire mentors and coaches. Alison also wants to ensure that she gives back to her association and provide support those starting out on the pathway.
