The Netball WA (NWA) Regional Office holds an Association Forum in the first quarter of the year where the Association Presidents, Association Development Officers, and Association Umpire Development Officers come together with NWA Regional Office Staff. The purpose of the Forum is to:
The purpose of the Volunteer of the Year Achievement Award is to recognise a volunteer member within the Netball WA Midwest Gascoyne regional area that has made a significant contribution to netball in a volunteer capacity over the designated 12-month period. 2024 Applications Now Open Closing Date: Friday 10 May 2024
Netball WA (NWA) provides visits, training, development, accreditation, and education workshops to Associations. This servicing is conducted by the Regional Office staff or other contracted staff with the required expertise. Association Visits To Be Confirmed
2019 was the inaugural year for the Midwest Gascoyne Regional Championships. The Championships have age divisions from 12 & Under through to Open and Masters. The purpose of the Championships is to: o provide a platform for Association representative teams to compete against other Associations in the Midwest Gascoyne geographical area; o provide a platform for Coach mentoring; o provide a platform for Umpire coaching and badging; o provide Selectors the opportunity for the identification of Coaches, Player’s and Umpire’s for further pathway program’s and regional representative teams; o provide an opportunity for the netball community to come together to network and socialise. The carnival promotes participation and engages players from a wide variety of ethnicities to foster their netball skills in a fun and encouraging environment. The Multicultural Carnival is a celebration of WA’s cultural diversity. Each team is required to have 5 participants with 1 or more parents born overseas, or to identify as an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander on court at any one time. Click here for information.
Umpires from affiliated Associations in the Midwest Gascoyne may be identified and selected into the Fever in Time Umpire Academy. This program offers the selected umpires the opportunity for further pathway development both on and off court. Program Dates Available soon Fever in Time Umpire Academy Posted upon selection.
Athletes and coaches from affiliated Associations in the Midwest Gascoyne may be identified and selected into the Midwest Gascoyne Fever in Time Program. The athlete selection for this program comes primarily from the Midwest Gascoyne Regional Championships. However, if there is a valid reason as to why an athlete or coach is not able to participate in the Championships and they have been identified at other Carnivals or Association visits they may be included into the program. This program offers selected athletes and coaches the opportunity for further pathway development both on and off court through day camps and satellite sessions. The purpose of the State Cup Competition is to provide a competition component for the players, coaches and umpires in the Fever in Time Program. The State Cup sits within the Netball WA Competition Pathway and is one of the viewing and selection points for players, coaches and umpires to move into the next level of programs and pathways. The State Cup Competition is held annually. There are many performance areas to which Coaches, Umpires, and Players from Associations in the region may be selected. We congratulate and celebrate the success of these individuals who through hard work and determination have been selected into the next pathway levels. We thank the Associations and the many others who have assisted them, from their family though to their coaches and mentors that supported and guided them on their journey. Regional Academy of Sport Program Fever in Time Program Fever Futures (State Team Representation) Gold Industry Group WA Netball League
The Department of Local Government Sports and Cultural Industries (DLGSC) works collaboratively with government, community organisations, peak bodies and other stakeholders to achieve their vision of creating a vibrant, inclusive and connected WA community. DLGSC as a Major Partner of Netball WA provide funding to assist in the areas of governance, risk management, development and marketing. Athletes, coaches and umpires who meet criteria may be eligible for DLGSC funding in one or all, of the following: Regional Athlete Support Program The Regional Athlete Support Program establishes a state-wide network supporting regional-based talented athletes, coaches and officials which allows athletes to continue their development and progress along the athlete pathway from their home environment. Midwest Academy of Sport Regional Athlete Travel Subsidy Scheme The Regional Athlete Travel Subsidy Scheme provides funding assistance to regional Western Australian athletes who aspire to reach their full sporting potential. The funding is provided by the Department of Local Government Sport and Cultural Industries (DLGSC). Athletes must meet the defined categories and be approved by DLGSC & NWA to receive funding. Click here for information North West Travel Subsidy - Gascoyne North West Travel Subsidy assists young athletes from the North West with travel costs. It aims to encourage participation in identified sport and recreation activities for athletes living in the regions of the Kimberley, Pilbara and Gascoyne. North West Travel Subsidy is not an open funding scheme and is only available to athletes by way of application from their Regional or State Sporting Association or another relevant not-for-profit organisation approved by the department. Click here for information KidSport KidSport enables eligible Western Australian children aged 5 to 18 years to participate in community sport by offering them financial assistance of up to $150 per calendar year towards club fees.
