The Regional Cadet Program is a long term athlete development program for 12-17 year-old athletes. Delivered by each Netball WA Region the program also provides a development opportunity for coaches to take the next step in the coaching pathway. The program underpins the “Develop A Diamond Regional Academy” (DADRA) and State Representative programs, providing an opportunity for identified athletes and coaches to be developed at a Regional level. The focus of the program is to provide a training environment that concentrates on the delivery and development of skills and an understanding of the off court preparation required to support the on court performance.
The Regions with Netball WA’s support have seen the program evolve with the continuation of athlete, player and umpire development and the inclusion of the Aboriginal All Stars Cadet Academy.
As a culmination of the Cadet Program teams from each region play in the Netball WA Cadet Cup. The Cadet Cup is a major event that provides the athletes the opportunity to compete in a state competition. Held annually over a weekend in October, the Cadet Cup showcases the regions athletes within this age group.
The Regional Cadet Program sits within the Netball WA Pathways and underpins Netball WA “DADRA” and State Representative programs.
