The East Freo Sharks and West Coast Warriors are leading the coaching race for the 2019 West Australian Netball League season, with both clubs confirming their coaching and support staff.
Netball WA Life Member and coaching luminary Sue Gerrard will head up the Sharks’ League side, while Mel Rainey will serve as her Assistant Coach, Sarah Dodd as Apprentice Coach and Debra Poole as Team Manager.
Michelle Willsher will lead their 20U side, with Alex Shorter named Assistant Coach, Narelle Morgan Apprentice Coach and Karen Wheatland Team Manager.
Lorraine Ward will take charge of the Warriors’ League side, with Sian Geldenhuys and John Italiano to serve as Assistants, while Kristie Leahy will lead their 20U side, with Tibbie Gailbraith named as Assistant Coach and Michaela Gall as Apprentice Coach.
Petrina Pehi will lead their Men’s side, with Kat Laing named as Assistant Coach.
With their coaching and support staff now finalised, both clubs have their sights set on assembling a formidable force for next season.
The Sharks will hold trials on Tuesday December 4, and if required on Thursday December 6 and Monday December 10, while the Warriors will hold trials on Sunday 2 December and Sunday 9 December at Craigie Leisure Centre.
Fellow newcomers Curtin-Hamersley Comets are the only other team to have named their Head Coaches, with Assistant Coaches and Managers yet to be named.
