You can find Darren Shillington courtside on a Saturday at Perth Netball Association cheering on his three daughters but during the week he’s a Senior Partner at PKF Mack & Co and Netball WA’s newest Board Member.
Filling a vacancy on the Board, Darren Shillington joins the Netball WA Board with more than 27 years of experience in providing taxation and business consulting advice to clients.
When asked what he was most excited about in joining the Board, Darren explained that it was a clear understanding of the goals and objectives set out in the Netball WA Strategic Plan that attracted him to the role.
“The goals set out are quite bold and to be a part of a progressive board that sets about achieving these goals is exciting, and it’s also exciting for the wider netball community as they will provide a number of benefits that are visible, definable and enduring.
“The opportunities I see are at every level ranging from grassroots to West Coast Fever.
Darren quickly claimed Caitlin Bassett as his favourite West Coast Fever player, who is also a favourite with his daughters, but drew on his football background when asked what position we would find him on the court.
“I’d be goal keeper. In my younger days I played football and played in the backline. I enjoyed defending and feeding the ball through to the forwards, and, I’m quite tall.”
Netball WA President, Deane Pieters welcomed Darren’s appointment saying, “We’re delighted to have Darren’s wealth of business experience as well as his enthusiasm for the sport of netball in Western Australia.
Darren’s skill set will provide additional expertise and complement our existing Board Members’ strengths as we continue to work towards our ambitious five-year strategic plan.”
