Western Australia will be looking for bronze in both the 17U and 19U divisions of the National Netball Championships tomorrow, after falling short of Gold Medal Match births today.
The 17U side started their match against South Australia strongly, before poor feeds saw WA trail by six goals at quarter time.
WA managed to reduce the margin to four goals at half time, keeping South Australia to just five goals in the second term thanks to a lift in defensive pressure.
However it was the third quarter that cost the West Australians, as they allowed 12 goals to five, with the South Australians opening up a nine goal deficit heading into the last quarter.
South Australia continued to put their foot down in the fourth stanza, with WA only scoring two goals, and falling short 40-18.
WA will now face Queensland for bronze tomorrow.
In the 19U division, WA faced Victoria, with West Australians starting strongly to lead by five goals at half time.
The full court pressure seemingly dropped in the second term as Victoria scores eight goals to four, cutting WA’s lead to just one goal at half time.
Both sides threw everything at the contest in the third stanza, but it was Victoria who took a four goal lead into the final quarter.
The Victorians held on in the fourth term to run out 28-23 winners.
WA will now face New South Wales for bronze tomorrow.
