Western Sting is pleased to announce West Australian Netball League (WANL) premiership-winning coach Andrea McCulloch as Head Coach of the side for the 2018 season.
After three consecutive bronze medals from 2014-2016, Sting produced an outstanding 2017 campaign to claim their maiden Gold Medal in the competition that underpins Suncorp Super Netball.
McCulloch brings an extensive coaching resume to the role, having led the Perth Lions for the past three years, steering the side to the 2015 WANL title, and also spending time in both the West Coast Fever and Western Sting environments.
Additionally, McCulloch also served as the 19U State Team Head Coach for the past two years, guiding the side to a bronze medal earlier this year, and was excited by the opportunity to lead Sting.
“We have some very exciting talent in both young and experienced netballers throughout WANL, so to work with the group of those athletes is a fantastic opportunity,” McCulloch said.
“I’m looking forward to working closely with Stacey Marinkovich and the High Performance program to help build and develop the future of West Australian netballers.”
West Coast Fever Executive Officer Tamara Sheppard congratulated McCulloch on her selection.
“Andrea is thoroughly deserving of this opportunity,” Sheppard said.
“She has been one of the State’s most consistently performing coaches at State and National level for a number of years now, and I am confident she will take full advantage of this role and continue the outstanding results we have achieved in recent years.”
The Western Sting squad for the 2018 Deakin University Australian Netball League will be announced in the coming weeks, with their remaining coaching and support staff to be named in early January.
