Gold Industry Group supports NAIDOC Netball Carnival

Netball WA is pleased to announce the Gold Industry Group’s support of the NAIDOC Netball Carnival to be held at the Wembley Sports Park tomorrow.

The commitment comes following the Gold Industry Group’s $5 million investment in West Australian netball announced earlier this year.

The landmark partnership saw the Gold Industry Group become the first Principal Partner of Netball WA, Elite Partner of West Coast Fever and Premier Partner of Shooting Stars, as well as holding naming rights to the Gold Industry Group West Australian Netball League.

The NAIDOC Netball Carnival is one of the largest Indigenous sporting participation events in Australia, with more than 110 teams set to compete.

The Gold Industry Group and Netball WA are working collectively to advance their respective communities, with the partnership boosting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander programs across the State.

“We’re excited to be a part of and support one of the largest netball carnivals in our country, connecting Indigenous people from across Western Australia who all share the same passion for netball,” Gold Industry Group Vice Chairperson Kelly Carter said.

“This event is a special celebration of NAIDOC week, promoting Indigenous and non- indigenous communities working together for a shared future.”

The Gold Industry Group is delighted to be able to contribute to such an important goal through the partnership.”

Netball WA Chief Executive Officer Simon Taylor said it was a fantastic demonstration of collaboration between the two organisations.

“We’re incredibly proud to host this event each year, so we welcome the Gold Industry Group’s support,” Taylor said.

“Netball has long enjoyed a strong and prosperous relationship with the Indigenous communities of Western Australia, so we’re once again excited to host the NAIDOC Netball Carnival.”

“The partnership between Netball WA and the Gold Industry Group is one we’re very proud of, and together we’re empowering more than 230,000 participants state-wide to take control of their netball destiny and shape their journey, leading the way for diversity and inclusion within the community.”

Through the Gold Industry Group’s partnership, Indigenous netball programs across the State will be enhanced in the coming months with the launch of a number of new initiatives including a Shooting Stars trial site, leadership camps and participant training.

The NAIDOC Netball Carnival will be held at the Wembley Sports Park on Wednesday, July 10.
