Gaudion and Gerrard awarded Life Membership

Netball WA would like to formally congratulate its two newest Life Members, Sue Gaudion and Sue Gerrard.

Both women were presented with the governing body’s highest individual honour at yesterday’s Annual General Meeting.

Gerrard is one of the State’s most decorated coaches, most recently taking the reigns of the 17U State Team, which will compete at the National Netball Championships in Adelaide in April.

Having held Life Membership of Royals Netball Club since 1987 and the Perth Netball Association since 1998, Gerrard has made an invaluable contribution to netball in Western Australia.

Having played for the State throughout the 1980s, Gerrard went onto be named West Australian Netball Coach of the Year twice, and was coach of the Superdome Bullets from 1994 to 2000 winning a number of premierships along the way.

Gaudion is also one of the State’s highest profile coaches, and continues to be one of the strongest advocates for netball in Western Australia.

Having served as the Head Coach of the Sparks from 2003-2005, and then the Demons in 2006, Gaudion was appointed Head Coach of the Perth Orioles in 2007, before taking the reigns of West Coast Fever in their inaugural year.

She was also the West Australian 21U State Team coach, leading the side to victory in 2005.

Gaudion is also one of the games most respected broadcasters, commentating games at every level including the Commonwealth Games, Fast5 World Series, ANZ Championships and Suncorp Super Netball.

Netball WA President Deane Pieters congratulated the duo on their Life Membership.

“These two ladies embody the qualities we seek in our Life Members,” Pieters said.

“They have worked tirelessly to reach the levels they have, and it is their continued strong advocacy of netball in Western Australia that has made them most worthy of this accolade.”

“We are indebted to both ladies, and I would particularly like to thank them for their contributions to netball.”

Sue Gerrard and Sue Gaudion become the 95th and 96th Life Members respectively.
