Stage set for West Australian Netball League finals

With the 2017 West Australian Netball League home and away season now complete, 12 teams across three divisions are settling their preparations for the finals series, beginning this weekend at the State Netball Centre.

The West Coast Warriors continue their dominance of the competition, with their League, Reserves and 18U sides all qualifying for finals for the second consecutive year.

The Perth Lions will also be well represented, with all three of their sides finishing inside the top four, including their undefeated 18U side, while the Coastal Sharks will look to secure Grand Final berths this week in both the League and Reserves Divisions.

The South East Demons premiership hopes will be left to their League side, after their Reserves team missed out on a finals place thanks to a narrow loss to the Rangers, who secured fourth place last weekend.

Regional teams the Souwest Jets and Wheatbelt Flames will feature in the 18U competition, with the Jets looking to defend their title.

The West Coast Warriors will be looking to make it back to back titles in the League division, while the Coastal Sharks will be aiming for their sixth consecutive Reserves premiership.

For the first time, Grand Final day will be hosted at the State Netball Centre on the newly formed Show Court, which will allow seating for more than 1,100 fans.

Netball WA General Manager of Community Netball Liz Booth said it promised to be an exciting finals series.

“The 2017 season has been incredibly close across all three divisions, and I am confident the finals series will produce some outstanding matches,” Booth said.

“We are excited to host Grand Final day at the State Netball Centre in 2017, and look forward to showcasing our fantastic venue to the public.”

“We wish all competing teams the best of luck and encourage their respective fans to come along in their club colours to support their team.”

Tickets to the Semi Finals and Preliminary Finals are available at the door for $9 for adults, $6 for concession, with under 17s free.

Entry is free for West Coast Fever Members and WANL season ticket holders, upon presentation of their membership cards.

Grand Final ticketing information will be released shortly.
