Netball WA is pleased to announce the 2017 West Australian Netball League (WANL) fixtures.
The ECU Souwest Jets have re-joined the League division for the 2017 season, taking the total number of teams in the top flight to seven.
Each WANL club will once again be given the opportunity to host a home round, which will see fixtures taken to Northam, Warwick, Kalamunda, Eaton, Mandurah and Geraldton in 2017.
The South East Demons and Perth Lions will play their home games at the State Netball Centre.
The 2017 season begins with a rematch of last year’s League Grand Final on April 28, with the West Coast Warriors and South East Demons doing battle, while newcomers the Jets will take on the Perth Lions in their first match.
Last year’s bolters the Rangers will meet the Wheatbelt Flames, while the Coastal Sharks, a side that boasts six Western Sting players, will start the season with a bye.
Netball WA Chief Executive Officer Simon Taylor said the 2017 season was shaping to be the most exciting season yet.
“This league continues to grow in quality and stature each year and is testament to the player development pathways here in Western Australia,” Taylor said.
“I wish each of our competing clubs and teams the very best of luck, and I look forward to seeing the competition grow from strength to strength once again in 2017.”
Mental Health Awareness Round has been marked for Round 3, with all games on May 7 dedicated to highlighting the importance of mental health awareness, while dedicated Indigenous and ‘Belt Up’ Rounds will also feature on the calendar, with the dates yet to be finalised.
The regular season will run from April 28 to August 6, with finals commencing on August 13, while the Grand Final is scheduled for August 27 at the State Netball Centre on the new show court.
West Coast Fever season ticket holders can enter all WANL matches for free, while WANL Season Passes will be available for purchase from the State Netball Centre ahead of the opening round from just $60.
